The LABORAL Kutxa-Euskadi women shine in El Salvador
LABORAL Kutxa-Euskadi completed its five-race, nine-day tour in El Salvador with victories, podium finishes, and UCI points!
On Mendiz bikes, the Basque team added four more victories to its tally: two stages for Usoa Ostolaza at the Tour of El Salvador and two for Laura Tomasi at the GP Presidente and GP El Salvador. These results translate into considerable UCI points, the team's other goal for this tour. Naia Amondarain, Yuliia Biriukova, Arianna Fidanza, Yanina Kuskova, Usoa Ostolaza, Catalina Soto, and Laura Tomasi were the seven riders in this tour of the Central American country, led by Peio Goikoetxea.
The recap:
Tour of El Salvador:
Usoa Ostolaza (LABORAL Kutxa-Euskadi) repeated her victory and raised her arms during the fourth and final stage of the Tour of El Salvador. The Basque cyclist finished second in the race, while her teammate Yanina Kuskova also made the final podium, in third place. Overall, Ostolaza was just two seconds behind Elena Hartmann, and Kuskova was third, six seconds behind. The team thus earned two stage wins, both by Usoa Ostolaza. Laura Tomasi collected two second-place finishes, and Arianna Fidanza two third-place finishes. Usoa Ostolaza also won the mountain classification, while LABORAL Kutxa-Euskadi was crowned best team.
Peio Goikoetxea, sports director of LABORAL Kutxa-Euskadi: "At the Tour of El Salvador, our goal was to win the general classification, but Ceratizit also brought a very strong team here, and we must congratulate them. We didn't achieve that, but at least, with Usoa, we repeated our victory, and Ari took third place. The team was very good, and we now have three races left. We will face them with great enthusiasm and the intention of finishing on a high note."
